Min norsk småkaker
They look like this:
Though the recipe made another batch with almost just as many--almost 24 cookies!
Apparently this is a "Norwegian" recipe, if anyone wants to try something new? Here it is:
You will need
1/2 cup of butter
1/2 cup of sugar
1 beaten egg
1/2 table spoon of almond extract
1 cup of flour
Cherries**
Half a cup of butter and half a cup of sugar--cream them together (if you have to, warm the the butter first but don't melt it), then mix them with one beaten egg until it looks like a fine yellow paste. Then add a cup of flour and half a tablespoon of almond extract. Fix it together until it is doughy and not longer sticking to the bowl. Add some more flour if you need to get this. After that, chill the dough for an hour. When it is ready, roll the dough into little balls, and then flatten them. I used the bottom of a cup. Then sprinkle some sugar on the top of each one. then comes the cherries! Put a cherry half in each cookie.
Then bake the cookies with the oven heated at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes.
**If you do not have any cherries, go ahead and try blackberries or something.
